BC Children's Hospital (BCCH) cares for the most acutely ill or injured children and youth in the province of British Columbia, provides developmental and rehabilitation services to children and youth throughout BC, and offers a broad range of health services.  BCCH also operates a wide number of specialized health programs, is a leading acute care teaching facility, and conducts research to advance health and care through the BC Children's Hospital Research Institute and in partnership with the University of British Columbia.

Pediatric Radiologist with Interest in Nuclear Medicine / PET Imaging

BC Children's Hospital (BCCH) is seeking a Full-Time Pediatric Radiologist with interest and qualification in Nuclear Medicine and PET Imaging to join the Department of Radiology.

The successful candidate will join one other Pediatric Radiologist with Nuclear Medicine qualification in the current team of 14 pediatric and interventional radiologists delivering imaging services to the 196 bed tertiary care BC Children's Hospital, and consulting services to the wider Province of British Columbia. The Nuclear Medicine service at BCCH is unique in performing hybrid low dose diagnostic SPECT-CT and PET-CT imaging.

The main radiology department in the new Teck Acute Care Centre will be equipped with state of the art 3T and 1.5 T MRI, CT, US, Nuclear Medicine, fluoroscopy  and radiography systems. A six room procedure suite will be equipped with MRI, CT and angiography systems and shared by Interventionalists, Surgeons and Endoscopists. The Nuclear Medicine department will have two state of the art SPECT-CT systems. Pediatric  PET-CT studies are currently performed at the BC Cancer Agency site with the plan to develop a PET imaging suite in the Teck Acute Care Centre.

Teaching and clinical research are integral parts of the role.  The BCCH Department of Radiology is affiliated with the University of British Columbia and offers both residency and fellowship training in Pediatric Radiology. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills and aspire to advance academic radiology.

Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in the Province of British Columbia. Candidates must have or be eligible for Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Radiology and have completed a recognized fellowship in Pediatric Radiology.

Candidates must also have Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons certification in Nuclear Medicine or be willing to undertake training to become eligible for certification.

The successful candidate will be recommended for clinical faculty appointment to the University of British Columbia. Academic rank, dependent on qualifications, will be recommended by the Department of Radiology of the University of British Columbia's Faculty of Medicine.
