Title of Position:                
Health Physicist

Description of Position
To provide operational health physics support to the DWM group at CNL assigned facilities

Job Duties:
• Provide program management and oversight:
• Prepare, review and revise radiation protection procedures
• Establish, implement and maintain radiation protection performance models and metrics
• Monitor RP related non-conformances and corrective actions
• Perform RP compliance inspections
• Prepare or participate in annual RP program compliance reviews
• Development and implementation of RP controls, processes and procedures; Radiological safety and dose assessments; ALARA assessment and reviews
• Prepare, review and/or approval of radiological work plans/procedures Post-work ALARA reviews
• Respond and investigate unplanned event investigations
• Radiation safety officer services and management including: Radiation source registration and records; Radiation source leak testing program and Radioactive material handling area permits
• Conduct selection and procurement of radiation and contamination measuring and monitoring equipment
• In-field gamma spectroscopy
• Oversight of decommissioning/decontamination methods and techniques
• Plan, execute and document  scoping, characterization and release radiological surveys

Terms of Employment:  Full time, Permanent (37.5 hours of work per week)

Wage: $92,400 - $102,600 per annum

• Honours degree in health physic, or Baccalaureate in engineering or science from a university of recognized standing with post graduate study (or equivalent experience in lieu of post graduate studies).
• Approximately 8 years of experience as a Health Physicist in an Operational or Industrial related radiological environment.
• Decommissioning experience of Radiological Impacted Facilities is required.
• Ability to wear protective clothing and work in a hazardous environment.
• Mature outlook and proven good judgement.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of recommendations and guidelines of radiological protection standards.
• Knowledge and understanding of radiation protection philosophies, procedures, equipment and techniques used both in theory and practice
• Use of Microsoft computer software, knowledge and use of databases.
• Written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet objectives and targets.
• Ability to make decisions based on established requirements, procedures and practices.  
• Ability to supervise a small work team, junior professionals and/or technical staff.
